In the premiere of this series it introduces Eric Camden (Stephen Collins) who's a minister, father of five, happily married, and a soon-to-be dog owner. His wife, Annie Camden (Catherine Hicks) is a stay-at-home mom raising their children. Matt Camden (Barry Watson) is the oldest child who has picked up a habit of smoking and not being able to keep a job. Mary Camden (Jessica Biel) is the oldest daughter who likes to play basketball a lot and is having a craving for wanting to kiss a boy. Lucy Camden (Beverley Mitchell) is the middle child and is hoping to become a woman and getting her period very soon. Simon Camden (David Gallagher) is the youngest son and is hoping to get a dog very soon, even though his parents already told him that he's too young. Ruthie Camden (Mackenzie Rosman) is the youngest child and is a happy and adorable 5 year-old. Also, Annie learns some devastating news when her parents come for a visit as her mother has Leukemia.

It makes me cry, too! This one is the same as 1.02. The pilot never aired, so I didn't make a thread for it.

The part about Annie's Mum always tears me up Same here . Other than that, the episode was great. I found out the last time I watched this that Matt's friend Jeff was played by the same guy who played Todd on SVH (Ryan Bittle, Todd #1). I remember seeing him onscreen and was thinking, "Why does this guy sound and look familiar?" then I figured it out and was like, "Holy crap, it's Todd!" lol ;D. Of course, no one knew who the hell I was talking about haha. ETA: And I thought that Eric being the one who went to buy tampons for his daughters was quite... weird imo. My dad cringes whenever he lays eyes on my "feminine products" so seeing Eric being the willing tampon shopper was weird. And because I started my period at the young age of 10 I couldn't sympathize with Lucy's want to get her period. It's like, "do you have any idea what you're getting into?" lol ;D.

I agree, Eric is a great Dad, but that is weird.
